Are Dental Veneers Fit Alternative To Orthodontic Treatment?

There are good reasons why Dental Veneers seem like an attractive option for many. Lots of people can instantly achieve a perfect smile in just a matter of weeks, even days for some.

It’s understandable why it is tempting to follow suit.

Let’s explore Dental Veneers a bit further to see why it is a viable alternative to orthodontic treatment.

A dental veneer is a very thin layer of porcelain which attaches to the front surface of the tooth, disguising any imperfections underneath.

Aside from being natural looking, Dental Veneers can improve not only the position of your teeth but also their shape and color.

So if your teeth are broken, chipped or discolored, Dental Veneers should be a wonderful and fitting option for you.

People consider someone smiles their most important feature – even more so than their hair, eyes, and body. It’s no wonder that everyone wants a beautiful smile!

If you can count yourself in that category, you probably want to correct some of your cosmetic flaws so you can enjoy all the benefits that a beautiful smile has to offer.

That’s what Dental Veneers can most certainly deliver you.

The Difference Between Dry And Oily Acne | Shinagawa Aesthetics Blog

The Difference Between Dry And Oily-Acne

For a lot of people, acne is one of the most common and difficult skin conditions to be treated. Even dermatologists and aestheticians admit to being challenged in terms of treating acne problems of a number of their patients.

When you break out, those nasty and annoying blemishes are a combination of dead skin cells, bacteria, and oil. Those with oily skin have excess oil on the surface, making it the perfect breeding ground for breakouts. Yet, surprisingly, even people with dry skin can get acne.

So, what is the difference between oily acne and dry acne and what is causing that to happen?

As we know, oily skin is more susceptible to acne because of all of the excess oil that sits on top of the skin. The acne flame is fueled by oil, meaning that if you don’t use products that help reduce excess oil, acne will be more difficult to prevent and treat.

Both salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide are effective in the treatment of acne. Salicylic acid exfoliates and works like a mop to absorb excess oil and remove the dead skin cells that cover the breakouts. This makes the extraction process much easier and more comfortable for clients. It also has antibacterial properties which are essential to treating and controlling acne.

On the other hand, benzoyl peroxide works by forcing oxygen into the pores and killing bacteria. Bacteria cannot survive in the presence of oxygen – therefore making benzoyl peroxide the perfect ingredient for killing that bacteria and reducing breakouts on the skin.

But having dry skin and acne can be a very frustrating situation to deal with too.

The main ingredients that are used to treat acne can be very drying for any client, but especially for those who already struggle with dry skin. When the skin is dry, the barrier function is not working properly and allows for transepidermal water loss. This makes the skin even drier and can allow bacteria to spread, causing more breakouts. It is important to rebalance the skin with the appropriate oils and lipids to ensure a healthy barrier, especially for clients with dry skin.

Most of the time, clients actually create the problem by stripping their skin, which leads to dryness and an intact barrier. This can happen by simply overdoing their skincare routine.

Having both a gentle cleanser, as well as one that has active ingredients, is important so you are not over drying the skin. Clients can also over exfoliate with the use of abrasive facial scrubs or even over using a facial brush like the Clarisonic. You really only need to be exfoliating the skin two-to-three times a week.

When you exfoliate, the naturally occurring lipids or oils on the skin are being taken off; when it’s overdone, the face will overcompensate and produce more oil.

In short, acne is a frustrating skin condition to deal with, whether clients have dry or oily skin.

Make sure that they are always using their recommended products and that they are using them regularly. They will get the best results with a routine. Remember, less is more when using professional skin care products and treatments.

Dr. Charo Rayos del Sol with a Patient | Shinagawa Feature Story

From Doctor To Patient: Dr. Charo’s Own LASIK Experience

Even ophthalmologists themselves need the sharpest of visions to be as prolific as possible.

Take it from Shinagawa’s very own Dr. Charo Rayos del Sol.

Our own doctor recently had her own LASIK to enhance his vision further.

“Of course, being an ophthalmologist myself, I need to have a sharp vision that can help me further in my profession,” expressed Dr. Charo. “That’s why I had LASIK here in our very own clinic here at Shinagawa to improve my eyesight and it was so smooth and very comfortable.”

“I’ve been struggling with blurry vision for over 10 years before having LASIK. I was at 20/200 before and now, I have a 20/15 vision.”

Used to performing surgeries herself as an eye doctor, it felt weird at first for her to be the patient who will undergo LASIK but in the end, it was all a thrill for her.

“It was weird at first to be the patient for LASIK as I am a doctor and normally, it’s me who performs the procedure. I’m glad it all went well as I was in good hands with our doctors and advanced machines here.”

While there’s a common misconception that in the medical industry, ophthalmologists do not actually undergo LASIK procedures themselves, her experience was a testament that doctors also have their full trust in the safety and advancements of the machines and practices at Shinagawa.

Armed with a brighter vision now, Dr. Charo expects herself to perform at an even higher level now regarding her duties as an ophthalmologist.

“I now have better eyesight and this will make everything easier for me, including the LASIK and cataract surgeries that I regularly perform.”

Whatever profession you may be in, you most certainly need a bright vision to thrive. Don’t let your blurry vision be the hindrance that stands between you and your goals.
