Peepcon 2015: Building Lasting Connections

In this day and age, technology is one of the most powerful tools we have. We all possess the ability to make the most of it. In the hands of experts, these tools such as social media marketing and search engine marketing, can influence the behavior and beliefs of discerning consumers.

Shinagawa Lasik & Aesthetics was privileged to have been invited to participate as sponsors and attendees of this year’s Peepcon, a non-profit conference which focuses on sharing SEO and Digital Marketing knowledge to those who are interested, regardless of their profession. Most of the attendees, however, were Digital Marketers.

They were all eager to learn about Shinagawa’s services, particularly in our Lasik procedures because most of them have been living with poor eyesight.

Many signed up for 50% off on Lasik screening, grabbing the opportunity since the offer was exclusive to the attendees of the event. They were also treated to video a presentation featuring Dr. Jaime Dinglasan talking about the basics of Lasik. The video also included a testimonial of a happy patient who now enjoys perfect vision thanks to Shinagawa’s Lasik procedure.

During the conference, some of the most respected names in the field of Digital Marketing in the country shared their insights about making good content, raising brand awareness, hiring the right people and following a goal-oriented timeline.

This experience was an enriching one, especially for Shinagawa’s Marketing Team. By participating in this event, we not only gained new knowledge, but we learned on what areas we need to improve on to take Shinagawa to even greater heights.

The Third Time’s a Charm: Dr. Kiyoshi Tai in Manila 2015

At Shinagawa Lasik and Aesthetics, we are always looking for ways to innovate and give our clients only the best. It is a vision we share with internationally renowned Orthodontist, Dr. Kiyoshi Tai. 2015 marks the third year we have invited him to share his expertise in the field of Orthodontics and it has been the most successful one yet.

When we caught up with him for a quick chat at the Shinagawa clinic, we found him to be accommodating and gracious. With an impressive career such as his, it was refreshing to be welcomed with such humility. “I graduated from Dental School of Tokushima University and had my training at the Prosthetic Department of Okayama University Dental School. In 1997, he completed his course at the Orthodontic Department of the same institution.”

In 2000, he established his private practice in Okayama. He established Sakura Dori Orthodontic Clinic five years later. He shares, “I established my private practice through building trust.” And it’s this type of patience and the value he places on establishing good relationships with both colleagues and clients which have been the foundation of his lauded career.

In 2004, he was named Japanese Specialist of Orthodontics by The Japan Institute of Orthodontists. “Well, I began as a prosthetics and became a specialist. “I believe in separating General Dentistry with being a Dental Specialist.”

He completed his PhD in 2012 at Okayama Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Reconstructive Surgery, Okayama University Graduate School of Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences, in Japan. In the same year, he was a named a Japanese Qualified Orthodontist by The Japanese Orthodontic society.

As an awarded researcher and author, Dr. Kiyoshi Tai has co-authored numerous research papers and articles tackling relevant breakthroughs in the field of Orthodontics. In 2011, he was given a Joseph E. Johnson Table Clinic Award for a research article he co-authored with Jae Hyun Park, D.M.D., M.S.D., M.S., Ph.D of A.T. Still University in Arizona, USA.

His noteworthy accomplishments extend to the academe as well. He was a visiting professor at the Postgraduate Orthodontic Program, Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health, A.T. Still University in Mesa, Arizona. He was also part of the faculty at the Graduate School of Dentistry at Kyung Hee University in Seoul, Korea. He has lectured internationally on Orthodontics.

But with the rapid changes that are continuing to reshape the practice of Dentistry and Orthodontics across the globe, it is important for veteran practitioners such as Dr. Kiyoshi Tai to keep up. “I attend meetings and conferences around the world to stay up-to-date. These events are a good chance to learn.”

When he delivered a lecture at the UP Manila College of Dentistry, the alumni and faculty alike were enlightened and encouraged. With over 50 students and Dental practitioners from various top universities in attendance, Dr. Kiyoshi Tai was inspired by the impressive reception.

Aside from teaching them about the latest advancements in the practice of Orthodontics, he cited actual cases using data gathered over a number of years and through extensive research.

When asked what knowledge and skills he would like to impart to young Dental practitioners, he stated simply but with passion, “They must learn to believe in their convictions and make an effort to be part of a community. Always focus on the patient. Never stop learning.”

Dr Anthony John Samonte Training at Tachikawa Institute

In an effort to improve patient care, Dr Anthony John Samonte, Medical Director of Shinagawa Lasik and Aesthetics Philippines, went on an intensive training at Tachikawa Institute with one of Shinagawa Skin clinic’s esteemed cosmetic surgeon, Dr Tetsuyuki Wada.

Dr. Samonte had a hands-on experience in the Shinagawa way of innovative procedures & techniques with the mentorship of Dr. Wada. “I had a very fruitful and informative days while working with Dr. Wada. I had the privilege of learning new thread techniques, transconjunctival blepharoplasty, facial liposuction, fillers and botulinum toxin use”Doc Anthony John Samonte

Here are the advanced medical techniques of cosmetic procedures that they’re using in Japan:

1) New thread face lift technique. This is a recommended cosmetic treatment for sagging cheeks and laugh lines. With the new technique, the thread is inserted on the the targeted area for best results. It’s an instant way to have a fresh and less tired look without undergoing a surgery.

2) Minimal invasive lower eyelid blepharoplasty. Uses a different method in removing eyebag through transconjunctival lower-eyelid technique. With this technique, the excess skin is removed by accessing the fat from inside the eyelid instead of cutting through muscle and septum intact which is the case in normal blepharoplasty. With this, there is a minimal scars, and downtime.

3) Facial contouring using liposuction. Overweight or not, there maybe fat on your face and neck that you want to remove. This fat can be removed permanently through facial liposuction. The technique uses cannula which is connected to a suction pump to do the fat cells extraction. It is a safe cosmetic treatment for skin tightening and facial rejuvenation with minimal downtime.

With these new medical procedures, Dr Samonte is confident that he is using the best technique and procedures applied to patients here in the Philippines. For cosmetic doctors, the satisfaction of their patients is their fulfillment. With that, they never stop learning just to give their patients the best possible aesthetic procedure.
