Shinagawa Sponsors APO Scientific Seminar
Shinagawa Lasik & Aesthetics Center played a big role in the recently and successfully concluded APO General Meeting and Scientific Seminar 2017 held at the Palm Grove, Rockwell Club Makati on June 7, 2017.
Organized by the Association of Philippine Orthodontists (APO), the event gathered the country’s top orthodontic practitioners to discuss the latest advancements and challenges in orthodontics. Orthodontic students from UP Manila, Centro Escolar University, University of the East, and Manila Central University were also in attendance.
Serving as one of the guest speakers for the seminar was internationally renowned orthodontist and speaker Kiyoshi Tai, D.D.S., Ph.D. who was invited by Shinagawa to discuss surgical orthodontic and camouflage treatment. He also shared several remarkable clinical cases in orthodontics, particularly the limitations of the maxillary sinus in space closure, tooth movement through an atrophied alveolar ridge, and timing for phase 2 treatment.
Dr. Tai had several professional presentations in different countries, four of which were held in the Philippines. The first was in South Western University, College of Dentistry in Cebu in 2009, the other three were lectures given in UP Manila Graduate Program in Orthodontics in 2012, 2013 and 2015.
Shinagawa Orthodontist and APO member Frances Margarette Tamayo-de Guzman, DMD, MS introduced guest speaker Dr. Tai, with whom she had an exclusive orthodontic clinical training in Japan in 2012-2013. Marketing consultant Acel Crisostomo was also in attendance to introduce Shinagawa’s Lasik services to the attending practitioners.
Aside from offering comprehensive orthodontic treatment, Shinagawa Lasik & Aesthetics Center also provides LASIK and derma services. Established in Japan in 1988, it has risen through the ranks to become the world’s largest LASIK provider with over 12 million successful procedures to date.

To cap off the day, Shinagawa also hosted a raffle promo for all attendees where 20 lucky winners each took home a White Flash Toothpaste with LED.
