Diana Krizia Bejo for LASIK | Shinagawa Feature Story

Tears Of Joy: The Bright Sight That Diana Never Thought Would Come

From surreal to real.

It seemed like having a bright vision was surreal for Diana Bejo until it got real right before her very eyes.

“I just had the most life-changing experience after having my LASIK eye procedure done at Shinagawa,” stated a jubilant Diana. “Still overwhelmed by the fact that I can see everything so perfectly clear and am literally in awe of the result.”

When you’ve been dealing with a blurry vision for a long time, it’s quite hard to believe that you can still see brighter, even if you already are.

“It just feels surreal to finally be able to see the world crystal clear again as I seem to have forgotten the feeling of having a normal vision. It feels amazing to wake up and see everything a lot clearer than before without putting my glasses on, which is something I never thought would happen one day.”

Diana then recalled how amazing her LASIK journey was at Shinagawa to the point that she literally cried tears of joy.

“The LASIK procedure itself only lasted for about 10 minutes. Yes, it was that fast and I am so amazed! I felt the effect instantly as my eyes started to clear up gradually a day after the surgery. I now have an HD vision which is even better than the normal 20/20. I literally cried out of joy.”

For that, Diana is grateful that she can now live her life in full steam.

“I am just so happy that I made one of the best decisions in my life. I couldn’t be more grateful to Shinagawa for making this possible and saving me from this world of a blur.

Is It Possible To Have A Beyond 2020 Vision? | Shinagawa LASIK Blog

Is It Possible To Have Beyond 20/20 Vision?

Having a 20/20 vision is considered as having a perfect vision as most people know. It is, but do you know that it is still possible to have a vision beyond or better than 20/20?

Yes, you read it right. It is possible with LASIK.

The measurement of 20/20 vision means something specific to eye specialists. Understanding what it means and the conditions it measures help determine your overall eye health.

LASIK has helped millions of people get normal vision if they are nearsighted, farsighted, or have astigmatism. That includes providing a beyond 20/20 vision on some occasions for some patients.

Having 20/20 means measuring your ability to see clearly at a distance of 20 feet. Still, it is possible to have better eyesight than 20/20 vision.

Being able to see objects at a distance greater than 20 feet away means you have a sharper vision or greater distance vision. For example, someone with a 20/16 vision can see objects at 20 feet as though they were at 16 feet.

People who have a refraction error in their vision experience problems focusing due to issues with the shape of their cornea in their eye, which then refracts light in a way that the brain cannot interpret the signals well through the optic nerve. Refraction errors include myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), astigmatism (change to the shape of the eye), and presbyopia (farsightedness specifically due to aging).

The one procedure that can fix these refraction errors and help people live without glasses or contact lenses is LASIK.

Since LASIK is the most recognizable type for refractive surgery, one of the simplest to perform, and one of the most useful with good long-term results, this is most likely the procedure you will be referred to if you ask about vision-correcting surgical procedures. Between 90 and 95 percent of laser vision correction is done with the LASIK procedure.

When you ask our optometrists or ophthalmologists at Shinagawa about LASIK, know that the goal is to get a normal and brighter vision, which is defined as 20/20 when dealing with refraction errors like astigmatism or presbyopia. But in some cases, a patient can also get a vision brighter than 20/20.

An in-depth eye exam will help your eye doctor understand if you are a good candidate for LASIK. Call our Patient Care Lines: (+632) 7-368 5238 l (+63) 917 862 7454 l (+63) 921 217 0517 to schedule a comprehensive eye check with LASIK screening, and see if you are eligible for the procedure.

Mark Cajucom with Dr. Carlo Adraneda at Shinagawa Lasik Center

Better Eyesight Leads To Better Teaching For Mark Anthony Cajucom

For a dedicated high school teacher, giving it his all every day for the sake of his students is a must. In order to do that, Mark Anthony Cajucom knew he can’t go on with blurry eyesight.

“I started to wear eyeglasses in 2006 to address my ocular problem wherein both eyes were suffering from a 1,500 eye grade,” shared Mark.

He knew that for him to fulfill his full responsibilities as a teacher in Nueva Ecija, he needs brighter eyesight.

Hence, he traveled all the way to Manila to Shinagawa to see what’s best for his eyes and vision. It was deemed that having Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE) is the way to go for him.

Mark Anthony Cajucom for RLE at Shinagawa Lasik Center

“I extend my sincerest gratitude to Shinagawa for conducting Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE) to enhance my vision.”

Following his RLE, Mark was quickly off to do better things as a teacher as he now owns a bright vision.

“Thanks to Shinagawa for the painless RLE I underwent with a toric lens. Following the procedure, my left and right eyes were brightened to 20/20 and 20/16 vision, respectively.”

Best Foods For Healthy Eye | Shinagawa LASIK Blog

Best Food For Healthy Eyes

For better or worse, your body is directly affected by the foods you eat.

In fact, each aspect of your overall health can be benefited from a healthy diet.

Your eyes are no different. Genetics may play a role in your overall eye health, however, the foods you choose to ingest may be a factor to help maintain better eyesight or decrease your eye health.

Here are some foods that you might want to take for you have healthier eyes:

Fish is great not only for your heart but for your eyes, too

The trick with fish is that the omega-3 fatty acids are the source of the health benefits for healthy eyes. This can be found in salmon most prominently. The omega-3 fatty acids help protect the back of the eye and can even help prevent dry eyes in many individuals. As with any fish, wild-caught is much better than farm-raised for several reasons, including having more of the good fats and less of the saturated fats found in farm-raised fish.

Carrots help as well

Carrots are actually very beneficial for your eye health. The beta-carotene and vitamin A in carrots help prevent infections and numerous eye conditions that may appear on the surface of the eye. The best part is that carrots are easy to eat and are in many different dishes (even in carrot cake!).

Berries

Not only good in lowering uric acid, but berries are also friendly to your eyes as well. Berries are full of antioxidants and vitamin C. This helps increase your immune system, which helps stave off infections in your eyes as well as degeneration. Enjoy a Kale and Berry salad, with a few almonds, egg yolks, and salmon, for the most eye-healthy meal possible!

Egg Yolk Gives Benefits

Eating egg whites may seem healthy, but the truth is the health benefits of the egg lies in the yolk. Egg yolks offer lutein and zeaxanthin. This helps reduce the risk of eye degenerative disease.

Almonds for your Eyes

Vitamin E is good for your eyes. Almonds are full of Vitamin E. Grab a handful as you walk out the door and you will get enough Vitamin E to satisfy half of the recommended daily dose. Keep this up and your eyes will be less likely to experience macular degeneration as you age. The good news is that almonds are easy to eat and travel well!

Eating healthy is essential to wonderful eye health. Still, you must see an eye doctor at least once a year to make sure there are no underlying issues that are related to genetics or the environment.
