Mikey Bustos LASIK Post Operation at Shinagawa LASIK Center

Mikey Bustos was having fun as he documented his LASIK post-op checkup two months after his surgery. “Blindness is not an option,” said the cheery Vlogger after finding out that his 20/10 vision remained unimpaired.

LASIK post-op checks are important to determine how a patient’s vision has progressed after the surgery. This procedure is free of charge and is done periodically after 1 day, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year. During this period, the refraction of the eyes and other effects of the treatment are assessed.

Life Changed By LASIK: Blogger Edition

Bloggers Yuki Tansengco (The Style Cat) and Sab Lee (Jay and Sab Around the World) both had vision problems since childhood. Yuki had an eye grade of -2.5 to -2.75 and relied on prescription glasses while Sab, although reluctant to wearing glasses despite being diagnosed with nearsightedness in grade school, had to wear contact lenses when her eye grade became -3.50. Tired of dealing with the inconveniences of wearing specs and contacts, the two eventually decided to have LASIK at Shinagawa Lasik Center, the world’s leading LASIK eye surgery provider.

Now, Yuki and Sab are enjoying the benefits of having perfect vision. Aside from seeing the world clearly without relying on any eyewear, they also have more time and freedom to do activities that need good vision, like reading, doing art, playing sports, and driving. Life-changing indeed!

Perfect Vision in Less Than 20 Minutes

DID YOU KNOW…
That it only takes less than 20 minutes to get perfect vision?

With LASIK, getting 20/20 vision is not just possible nowadays; it’s also fast and easy!

LASIK (Laser Assisted in Situ Keratomileusis) is the most common type of laser eye surgery used to treat nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. Using a computer-controlled excimer laser, programmed with data about the specific shape and structure of the cornea, a surgeon can efficiently reshape a patient’s cornea with exact precision. The procedure typically takes less than 20 minutes.

Before to the surgery, however, patients will undergo an extensive eye screening to determine the exact grade of their eye, the thickness of their cornea, and if they have existing health concerns that might prevent them from undergoing the procedure.

How LASIK corrects vision problems

The cornea is the clear front part of the eye that is responsible for focusing most of the light that enters the eye. When it is damaged from injury, significant vision loss can occur. By reshaping the cornea, the light traveling through it is properly focused onto the retina, thereby adjusting eye focus and correcting vision problems.

• Steepening the curve of the cornea improves near vision
• Flattening the cornea improves far vision
• Smoothening irregularity treats astigmatism

Quality of LASIK machines affects results

Traditional LASIK uses a blade (microkeratome) to create the corneal flap. Thanks to technological advancement, the procedure has evolved to using laser. However, not all bladeless LASIK procedures are the same. The most advanced ones use machines that are equipped with an eye tracking system, which captures even the slightest eye movements and records the exact centering and constant positioning of the eye.

Ultra LASIK, which is the most recommended procedure, uses SCHWIND AMARIS 750S eye tracker and FEMTO LDV Ziemer 6 laser. These superior technologies provide a greater vision correction while ensuring the highest level of safety. Most patients of Ultra LASIK also reach 20/10 vision, which is the highest resolution possible, because of a smoother ablation profile.

LASIK is life-changing

LASIK is not just a worthy investment; it is also a life-changing experience. Aside from no longer spending money on glasses and contact lenses, you can also do a lot of activities that you might have not done before, like swimming and many other outdoor activities; traveling without hassle; and playing freely with children and pets.

Your self-presentation will also improve. You will more comfortable meeting people without glasses or contact lenses. You can look more fashionable any time of the day because you no longer have to match your outfits to your glasses.

International fashion designer Pia Gladys Perey is one of the many people who had Ultra LASIK. She was ecstatic of the result and called it life-changing:

“I’ve been visually impaired since I was a baby due to an accident. But I had the most life-changing experience when I had ULTRA LASIK and I am in awe of the result; my vision is now 20/20. For my profession as a Fashion Designer, I think it’s very important to have perfect vision. In terms of my work and how I deal with people, it’s very important that I’m able to see perfectly.”
