It is that important for you to know if your wisdom tooth is impacted.
That might not be the easiest thing to recognize but once your wisdom tooth is starting to cause evident dental problems, there are signs to know if it is impacted.
Here are several problems, which may also serve as symptoms, that an impacted tooth can cause you:
  • Swelling around the gums and jaw areas
  • Constant jaw pain
  • Unpleasant taste in the mouth
  • Frequent bleeding of gums
  • Bad breath
  • Difficulty in opening your mouth
If you have most or any of these problems, there’s a good chance that you might have an impacted wisdom tooth.
In that case, it is a requisite for you to take actions and have the necessary treatments as an impacted wisdom tooth can eventually cause more damage.
Initially, an impacted wisdom tooth may not yet cause immediate or apparent problems. However, as time goes that it is left untreated, it may very well cause severe problems eventually.
Since an impacted wisdom tooth is quite hard to clean, it becomes more susceptible to gum disease and tooth decay more than your other teeth.
Once an impacted wisdom tooth already causes pain and/or other dental complications, it is usually removed to prevent more damage to the adjacent teeth.
So, how would you exactly know if your wisdom tooth is impacted?
The only way that a dentist can know if you have an impacted tooth is by having you take x-rays of your teeth and examining them.
