Patch Magtanong Answers Your LASIK Questions

Having experienced the best LASIK treatment in the country at Shinagawa, Binibining Pilipinas – International 2019 Patch Magtanong knows exactly how amazing LASIK works and how it can change lives for the better.

Based on her amazing and life-changing experience, she answers several common LASIK questions from her fans and other LASIK hopefuls.

Question: How does LASIK feel? Is it painless?

Patch: This is the most asked question. Yes, the procedure itself is painless! After the procedure, when the anesthesia wears off, you may feel just slight discomfort.

I napped for 4 hours after, and when I woke up, I felt completely normal. Super clear vision with no pain!

Question: How much is the procedure? I’ve been wanting to try it as I’ve always been struggling to wear contacts.

Patch: You can inquire with Shinagawa because the price will vary on the LASIK procedure recommended to you (there are different kinds). Plus, they have promos every now and then so check that out, too.

Super worth the investment! Spent so much on contacts and glasses throughout the years, not to mention the hassle!

Question: What was your eye grade before LASIK? What’s your eye grade now?

Patch: My eye grade was 450 & 350 with astigmatism, which was also corrected by LASIK. You go through a consultation and screening first to find out if you’re eligible for the LASIK procedure.

I now have a 20/12 vision!

Question: What’s the recovery stage like for LASIK?

Patch: Honestly, by the next day I felt completely normal already. Just a bit sensitive to light so no driving yet for at least 24 hours after.

Continued to put drops/medicine for about a week, then just lubricant as needed. Wore goggles and an eye shield for a week until my doctor told me I could stop.

My eyes were just a bit dry for the next 1-2 weeks after that but just kept putting drops. I’m not experiencing dryness anymore.

Question: What are the dos and don’ts before and after LASIK?

Patch: For both the screening and LASIK procedure, I couldn’t wear contacts for at least 1 week prior. After LASIK, no touching of your eyes, wear protective goggles, no makeup and no gym for the meantime.

Very little downtime and restrictions. You’re up and about the next day after LASIK!

Question: Why did you have LASIK?

Patch: Been wearing glasses since high school, contacts since college and it was really such a huge inconvenience. I couldn’t see anything while swimming, or even in the shower. I can’t watch TV in bed because I had to take off my glasses or contacts.

If I lose or break my glasses I’m blind! They’re so expensive, contacts, too. Plus, my eyes started hurting from wearing contacts. I had to take long breaks from them before I could bear to put them on again.

For Binibini and Miss International, I had to wear them every day for long periods. My eyes got so painful and red at the end of the day. So I decided it would be more practical to get LASIK instead. One of the best decisions I’ve ever made! So convenient, so liberating not needing anything anymore to help you see.

Hopefully, Patch answered some of the most common LASIK questions quite well based on her own experience. Like her, you can change your life by having LASIK!
