Effective Night Skin Care Routine | Shinagawa Blog

Effective Night Skincare Routine

Ending your day right is just as important as starting it well. After a long day doing all your activities and errands, it’s important for you to clean your skin before dozing off and going to sleep.

In our previous entry, we shared with you the proper morning skincare routine.  Having a good one at night is just as important.

At night time, your routine will be similar to your morning plan with some basic changes. Here are some effective and highly-suggested ways:

Cleansing – You can use an oil-based makeup remover to avoid pulling or scrubbing at the skin. Then, gently rinse with warm water and clean skin with a mild cleanser.

Toners And boosters – You can use the similar toner you use in the mornings at nighttime. You can also apply mists, boosters, and essences that can add glow and vitality to your skin.

Eye Cream – Starting in your 20s, it is beneficial to apply eye cream each night. In addition to moisturizing and healing sun damage, eye creams can also protect the sensitive skin around the eyes as you apply potentially harsh skincare products like exfoliants or acne treatments.

Treatments And Exfoliants – For this one, it is important for you to be discussing it with a dermatologist about the right products for your skin type. Treatments may include products for conditions such as acne or rosacea. You may also want to use a detoxifying or clarifying mask once or twice a week. You can use exfoliating products a few times each week to remove dry or dead skin cells.

Hydration – A lot of moisture is lost from the skin at night while we sleep. You may want to apply an extra hydrating mask or skin oil a few times a week or every night if you have dry skin. You should also apply a moisturizer or night cream liberally before going to sleep.

Healthy Eye Tips for the New Norm | Shinagawa Blog

Healthy Eye Tips For The “New Norm”

With this “new norm” that we are currently living in, the life we live, as we know, has gradually changed as well.

Changes in our lifestyle and way of life forced us to be adaptable. One of which is more reliance on digital devices and online services, as many people are stuck at home most of the time under the new conditions.

Given this, our eyes are also affected as they have to do their work for us even more. With that, here are some consensus healthy eye tips to incorporate to keep your eyes as healthy as possible.

  • Take a break from digital devices or other near work, such as the 20/20/20 rule of looking away from the screen every 20 minutes and focusing on an object at least 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds.
  • Maintain an appropriate distance from the screen, using the 1/2/10 rule — mobile phones ideally 1 foot, desktop devices and laptops at 2 feet, and TV screens at roughly 10 feet depending on the size of the screen.
  • Designate a “sleep time” for screens
  • Encourage movement, physical activity, and time spent outdoors within the bounds of quarantine recommendations.
  • Create a healthy media plan, including regulating time spent using digital devices.

These helpful eye tips can sure help save your eyes and vision.

An eye check-up should be of help as well, to make sure you know how healthy your eyes are. Book a checkup with us!

Patch Magtanong Answers Your LASIK Questions | Shinagawa Feature Story

Patch Magtanong Answers Your LASIK Questions

Having experienced the best LASIK treatment in the country at Shinagawa, Binibining Pilipinas – International 2019 Patch Magtanong knows exactly how amazing LASIK works and how it can change lives for the better.

Based on her amazing and life-changing experience, she answers several common LASIK questions from her fans and other LASIK hopefuls.

Question: How does LASIK feel? Is it painless?

Patch: This is the most asked question. Yes, the procedure itself is painless! After the procedure, when the anesthesia wears off, you may feel just slight discomfort.

I napped for 4 hours after, and when I woke up, I felt completely normal. Super clear vision with no pain!

Question: How much is the procedure? I’ve been wanting to try it as I’ve always been struggling to wear contacts.

Patch: You can inquire with Shinagawa because the price will vary on the LASIK procedure recommended to you (there are different kinds). Plus, they have promos every now and then so check that out, too.

Super worth the investment! Spent so much on contacts and glasses throughout the years, not to mention the hassle!

Question: What was your eye grade before LASIK? What’s your eye grade now?

Patch: My eye grade was 450 & 350 with astigmatism, which was also corrected by LASIK. You go through a consultation and screening first to find out if you’re eligible for the LASIK procedure.

I now have a 20/12 vision!

Question: What’s the recovery stage like for LASIK?

Patch: Honestly, by the next day I felt completely normal already. Just a bit sensitive to light so no driving yet for at least 24 hours after.

Continued to put drops/medicine for about a week, then just lubricant as needed. Wore goggles and an eye shield for a week until my doctor told me I could stop.

My eyes were just a bit dry for the next 1-2 weeks after that but just kept putting drops. I’m not experiencing dryness anymore.

Question: What are the dos and don’ts before and after LASIK?

Patch: For both the screening and LASIK procedure, I couldn’t wear contacts for at least 1 week prior. After LASIK, no touching of your eyes, wear protective goggles, no makeup and no gym for the meantime.

Very little downtime and restrictions. You’re up and about the next day after LASIK!

Question: Why did you have LASIK?

Patch: Been wearing glasses since high school, contacts since college and it was really such a huge inconvenience. I couldn’t see anything while swimming, or even in the shower. I can’t watch TV in bed because I had to take off my glasses or contacts.

If I lose or break my glasses I’m blind! They’re so expensive, contacts, too. Plus, my eyes started hurting from wearing contacts. I had to take long breaks from them before I could bear to put them on again.

For Binibini and Miss International, I had to wear them every day for long periods. My eyes got so painful and red at the end of the day. So I decided it would be more practical to get LASIK instead. One of the best decisions I’ve ever made! So convenient, so liberating not needing anything anymore to help you see.

Hopefully, Patch answered some of the most common LASIK questions quite well based on her own experience. Like her, you can change your life by having LASIK!
